We chartered out at dawn to see,
The whales on their migration,
Our boat cut through the Pacific,
With anticipation.
The spout appeared a half mile out,
A geyser white and tall,
Then a massive tail came crashing down,
As whales did leap and fall.
The calves swam close beside their mothers,
Their learning had begun,
The ocean giants graceful moves,
Were truly second to none.
We watched for hours with wonder,
At these leviathans of sea,
A whale watch off the coast today,
Is more than I expected to be.
The journey home was silent still,
We'd witnessed something rare,
A whale watch on the Pacific,
Left wonder in the air.
